Hot and tropical

It's my turn to be host for this weeks new challenge at

Our sponsor this week is

The theme I chose for this week is
Hot Colours

I've picked this lovely flower image and coloured them with polychromo pencils. I've then cut them out and layered them in one corner of the card base. Then the opposite corner I've made a rectangle layer in orange and the white layer has punched corners. The happy birthday sentiment has been die cut out of the same orange card. The leaves have also been die cut.

Sir Hare

Summer has arrived here in the UK as we start the month of June.

So today is the start of the new challenge at

Our theme is always anything goes
but please make a critter the focal point of your card.

This is a stamp from Sweet Poppy Stencils, called Hare, and it's in the sale only £6 reduced from £17.99 and includes the sentiment on the card too. What a bargain. It's a perfect looking hare which I've coloured quite simply with Copic pens. Then, so as not to detract from the image I've put it on die cut layers using a stitched edge rectangle. Then just the sentiment from the stamp set to finish.

Khaki Kid

It's time for a new challenge.

It starts today over at

The theme this time is blue and green.

I coloured the image with polychromo pencils. As the theme is blue and green I  wanted to try and make his clothing khaki coloured. The background has been made using a Sweet Poppy stencil called Stripes backplate. I first used it vertically with blue distress oxide, then turned it horizontally and used green distress oxide.

I've used a border punch piece of card and tied blue and white string round it. Then die cut a veritcal happy birthday sentiment to finish it off.

This image is from Beccy's Place and a stamp set called Beachside Bliss.  I've coloured it with polychromo pencils. The background has been done with a stencil from Sweet Poppy stencils called Harmony Backplate. Done with blue distress inks I thought it sort of resembled waves. Sunset Bunnies

I was really pleased that my card was picked as a winner and I was invited to be a guest DT member for April over at

Their theme is something farm or country,

I made a card like this some years back and decided to try and recreate it for a friends birthday. It uses Clarity Stamps products and a bit of masking. The sun is done through a hole stencil, then the sky is done by dragging a distress ink pad across the card. The bunnies are stamped next then masked off. The log stamp comes next, then that is masked off . Finally the reeds and weeds are put on. When all the masks are removed you should be left with this lovely scene you are bound to find in a quiet corner of a farm. A simple sentiment completes this card.

Hearty Anniversary

It's time for a new challenge at

We have no sponsor this time so the theme is
Anything Goes

I was in need of a last minute Anniversary card so I thought I could do something really quick and simple. So this card is a brown and cream background layer, The hearts have been punched out of 2 brown pieces of card, one the same as the background and one darker shade. The the hearts have been linked together using a gold liner pen with some yellow gems along them. The anniversary sentiment is stamped in brown.

Love My Doggie

It's hard to believe that the first quarter of  the year has already gone.
So as we go into another month we have a new challenge at

Our theme is anything as long as the focal point of your creation is a critter.

Plus if your creation is now picked in one of the winners sections you will be invited to be a guest design team member.

I've gone monochrome with lovely little doggie. He has been coloured with polychromo pencils. The top left of the background card has been done using a stencil and a very pale gray distress ink. Just a single black layer around the image. Then completed with really nice sentiment.

I've kept this card quite simple as I think this is just a simple cute image.

This pretty image from the Paper Shelter is called Sophie in the Country
I've coloured it with Polychromo pencils. It's a lovely image to reflect spring is here and hopefully summer is on it's way. To go with spring theme the background papers a green/blue glitter patterned paper and a green layer. The layer has a punched edge for decoration.

For the decorative part I've added a green and white dotted ribbon, gems down the punched edge. Finally a Birthday sentiment.

Rain Drops

A bit of a late post, I've had this seasonal chesty cough that's going around, the days just got all messed up.

So back to business and the new challenge at

We have no sponsor this week so it's just a theme of
Add a Sentiment.

I've gone back to Sweet Poppy Stencils for this one, I just find them so versatile.

This one is the Teardrop background. I used white paste through the stencil on black card then let it dry over night. To make the background I've then used the same stencil on the 2 corners using distress ink. Then I've used alcohol pens to colour over the dry paste. Nicely blended out to keep the colours light. To match in I picked 3 layers of card to tone with the pen colour and layered them up in a twisted format. The sentiment is also from sweet poppy to complete the card.

As the title says we love our critters,
so please make it the focal point of your card.

For my card this month I've used an image from a CD of Thelwell Images. I've coloured this one with polychromo pencils. Then stamped a sentiment next to the image. The background is a stencil from Sweet Poppy called Palm Leaves Backplate. Then the  main image has been off set just for a change. I've always loved this cute and comical little ponies. I'm over Hare

It's February already, spring is getting closer.

So today we have a new challenge at

Our only rule is to make a critter the focal point on your creation.

This is a stamp from Sweet Poppy Stencils, Hare set. I've stamped it with a water based brown coloured ink. Then used a brush and water to pull the colour out and so shade the image. I've just added some yellow for the flowers. I've kept most of the background papers in the brown shades to match the hare, but added a yellow ribbon to match the flowers. The sentiment also comes in this stamp set, and it's in the sale so a really good  price right now. I think this image would suit both male and female occasions.

Granny Ballet

Let's have a new challenge.

It's over at the Crafty Catz challenge.

Our sponsor this week is
and this is one of their images called

Our theme this week is
use blue/green

This image is a really fun image, made me smile anyway. I've coloured her with polychromo pencils. I've kept to our them this week and the colours I've used are pretty much all blue and green.

All the background papers are a matching shade too. Then I just added a sentiment which I think is relly apt for this image and that is "age is just a number". Which I think is quite true and never think you can't do the things you want just because of age.
